Jowl

As we age, it is natural that your facial skin and muscle loose collagen and sag, creating the fleshy loose skin that hangs under your jawline.

Apart from ageing, other factors can also contribute to having jowls, such as genetics, sun damage and smoking. The appearance of jowls can be delayed by taking a few preventive measures. First, it is very important to protect your skin from sun damage by applying sunscreen cream daily, especially ones with SPF 30 or greater. Secondly, using cosmeceuticals with clinically proven ingredients will stimulate natural collagen production, tighten you skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

At Vanity Aesthetics, you will have a free consultation to choose from the many non surgical solutions that tackle different facets of sagging jowls.

Thread lift

Using specialised surgical threads, your jowls can be lifted in a 30 minute procedure with practically no downtime. After the procedure, there will be only a few injection marks that should disappear in a few days. Results last an average 1 year with PDO threads, and 2 years with the new PCL threads. Vanity Aesthetics is one of a few providers of PCL thread lift in the UK.

Dermal filler

Treatment involves injecting a medically developed solution under the skin with a fine needle. Precisely placed on your jawline by a medical practitioner, dermal filler can also subtly lift the jowls. Compared to thread lift, dermal filler works better on the area around the chin but not very well on the jowls. Results last up to 2 years.

Medical grade peel

When the upper layers of your skin are shed under the effect of chemical peel, your skin will be stimulated to create much more collagen and tighten, flattening all wrinkles on your skin. To achieve jowl lifting effect, it has to be a deep peel, requiring 10-14 days of downtime. The advantages are that the whole face skin become tighter and more radiant.

Cosmeceuticals

These are products that use natural ingredients at high doses, have been clinically proven to make significant changes to your skin, and require a prescription for each individual. The advantage is that there are few side effects.
